Teacher Discounts!

 

It's Almost Time...

To start thinking about next school year!  Here in my area, many schools reopen the first or second week of August (pretty early if you ask me!).  I figured a post to highlight some discounts could be handy. There are some affiliate links here that I may earn a commission on.

Classroom Pets

Did you know that there is a teacher grant that will pay for all or most of a classroom pet and its habitat? It's true! The organization, Pets in the Classroom offers a Classroom Grant program for pre-K-8 public/private school teachers in the form of a voucher you can use at many retailers.  On their site, you select which retailer is best for you:

• Petco
• PetSmart
• Pet Supplies Plus
• Pet Supermarket

On August 1st, they begin accepting applications through the link above (if you qualify, you automatically get the grant), so mark your calendar!

Plants

• Home Depot can be a great place to pick up fresh plants for the classroom and garden.  They offer a Tax Exempt Card for schools that qualify under that status that waives the tax on your purchases. 
• Gardener's Supply Company has an Educational Account with 25% off you can open. They have "Affordable light gardens of all sizes, easy-to-use seedstarting kits, foolproof grow bags, composters and more."

Fabric & Craft/Art Supplies

We all need fabric for sewing/stitching activities, making new aprons, table cloths & napkins. We also need arts and craft supplies! Here are two options for you:

• Michaels Craft Store has a Teacher Discount of 15% discount. (They have miniature objects too!) Click the link to register and add that discount to your Michaels account online.
• Joann Fabrics and Crafts  is a great place to go for fabric and sewing supplies and they offer a Teacher Discount Card for 15% off everything! You can sign up for that online.

Books

Just in case you needed a little library refresh:

• Half Price Books offers a 10% Teacher Discount. I have found some real treasures in this store!
• Barnes & Noble has the Barnes & Noble Educator Program which gives teachers 20% off the list price for books!
